The Staying Power of Flash-sale Sites

flash-sales sites

Flash-sales are here to stay. Increasingly, what the sites are really selling is a lifestyle and a place to shop for those of us who don’t have the time to shop. They need to offer products that support my lifestyle and the instill a feeling that I can’t get a better curated collection anywhere else. And yes, it helps that the prices are good too.

I believe that flash-sales sites are here to stay, but also believe they will need to keep evolving. Daily email blasts can’t be a sustaining business model. I do like the view point Ben Lerer takes in this comment below.

Q: What’s your view on the staying power of flash-sale sites?

A: Flash sites are just a step in what will be a long evolution in commerce. It’s the beginning of commerce being presented as content. I think some elements of flash-sales will be here to stay but I think we’re just scratching the surface of how brands will sell products online.
